So you see an
intuitive healer reiki practitioner soul guide spiritual mentor/coach energy healer, and things are going really well, you feel elated, relieved, back in your body, have a general sense of ease and calm.
Then something happens and you don’t.
You go back to your energy healer for another session, everything feels right-as-rain, and a few days later you are suffering a massive energetic hangover, having jags of uncontrollable crying or rage that are not your regular M.O. then they seem to subside.
You blame it on Mercury in Retrograde, the Lunar Cycle, your cycle, or whatever else that seems plausible at the time.
A month or so later you see your energy healer again (or even a new, popular, “highly recommended” one) and things are really feeling great; you are moving a lot of shadow energy, old physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual patterns; really making headway in your personal evolution.
Then you hit the skids again, feeling like all that work was just erased, then the shame sets in.
You join a spiritual healing circle where you contribute to healing others and you receive the same.
And you go back again to your energy healer again… you are committed to your evolution after all.
This time, you’ve noticed that you are having weird gut issues or have fallen ill with something physically persistent that you can’t shake.
You may be seeing a pattern here, but do you see the underlying pattern?
I know this scenario well because I’ve been bitten in the ass big on this one, then I saw the pattern.
Now, I work with a select few healers that I know well, I know how they work, and I know how they manage their own energetic boundaries.
I have worked for many people to help them unravel and unbind big energetic entanglements that have come from their
intuitive healer reiki practitioner soul guide spiritual mentor/coach energy healer, that are hooked into their energy field so deep that it takes a good doing just to map the circuit of entanglement.
What causes this, you wonder.
I like lists so here are some of the common parting gifts when working with a healer that has poor energetic hygiene.
- They use their empathy as their conduit to your energy. Whoa now, not only are you working through your own stuff, you are tethered with theirs.
This can feel like being overly emotional in a way where you can’t control your reactions to normal everyday events or you feel anxious when you aren’t working together.
- They don’t create a container of assessment or healing. There is no energetic boundary between their work for your benefit and their work on other clients.
- They carry previous client’s energy, attachments, or patterns to you. Energy travels and it takes the path of least resistance, this is why we have container and boundary practices.
- They work even when they struggle to be in their own energy. This is like leaving the energetic keys in the front door of the house.
- They work even though they are going through emotional, mental, or spiritual turmoil. This is like a first-grade teacher going to work with the flu, you are going to catch what they have.
Now, what is the problem with healing circles, you ask. Aren’t they for the collective benefit for all?
Yes, this is accurate but…
This is like sitting in Circle (physical or remote) like how we all used to congregate and have chickenpox parties. You all are going to share energetic germs, hooks, attachments, non-beneficial energy leeches, and a whole mess of other energetic entanglements along with feel-good healing.
Part of my energetic education
I’ve had big lessons here myself..
Some years ago, I worked with an energy practitioner to move through an energetic pattern I was well aware of but I couldn’t seem to break the cycle.
It went like this. There was a post in a business group I was in that said that she had a message that someone there would need the post she was writing, that needed help with the exact thing I was struggling with.
Well if I didn’t get reeled in!
I personally responded and said that indeed I had been looking for someone to assist me. She had to “validate” and “verify” where I was and if I was qualified to work with her [alarm bell #1] and that yes indeed she was guided to reach out in the group about this pattern.
I proceeded to work with her over 5 sessions spread out at intervals that she determined at each session. [No problem, everyone works in their own ways.]
After each session, I would experience a magnitude of an energetic hangover that would last somewhere around a week, as in I would need to massively sleep in the middle of the day, every day. I wasn’t functioning in my normal manner.
By the third session, I was feeling good during and immediately after our work, so I decided to continue for 2 additional sessions but something happened after the third session.
I started feeling not myself having bouts of uncontrollable crying, jealousy, feeling like we were good friends and she was ignoring me, feeling pissed at how easily she was getting clients, and watching with envy at her rising popularity and credibility in the business group we were both in. And the physical lack of energy for more than 3 weeks was becoming more than I could handle. Basically, I was not acting like myself.
After weeks of this, feeling full of rage and envy yet wanting to continue with our work which wasn’t offered to me any longer, I started to use my innate knowledge to dissect what was going on with me.
There were several things, but the gist of it is that she hooked and reeled me in. The “Guides” she worked with were “beneficial” but they were for her benefit, not working in the client’s best interest which was to actually keep them coming back needing more.
She was the talk of the group, everyone was hiring her, [alarm bell #2, FOMO].
She used techniques that I like to call “NLP-ing people to death”; basically subtle, influential, self-effacing speak that makes a person seem humble and honest when in fact the goal is subtle but calculated manipulation.
And last, she had non-existent energetic boundaries and practices and I had a multitude of energetic attachments completely messing with my mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
This was the ultimate parting gift from my energy healer.
Why am I sharing this?
You need to be discerning about who works on you
- Get referrals – most of the people that come to me are through referral. People aren’t going to refer others that they’ve had bad experiences with unless they are in cahoots.
- What’s your intuitive sense of the person? Do you feel this tug like you are missing out if you don’t work with a practitioner?
Don’t work with that practitioner. That tug is twofold, your energy is telling you no and that tug can also be someone energetically luring you in.
- Don’t work with people just because they are well-known, someone famous, or well-known people work with them. That isn’t a valid endorsement.
- It’s ok to ask for referrals if they don’t have testimonials on their website.
(Transparency here: I should have these posted on my site, but I don’t for 2 reasons. I’m lazy and I work with some people that require anonymity so I’ve taken a lesson around discretion here.)
- It’s ok to ask for a chat session or a discovery call to determine if this person is best to work with you.
Any practitioner I work with on my energetic field is someone I know personally or someone that’s been referred to me. I know their style of work and expertise. I never chase the fame or the popular practitioners, that type of credential is empty and has no bearing on the work they do.
