And Why I Don’t Use the Common “Overactive” or “Underactive” Terminology
Do you have any idea what it means when you hear the words “Overactive” or “Underactive” when someone is describing your energy?
In looking at a person’s energy profile there are a few common ways energy is described by practitioners. Those descriptions usually are of an “open” or “closed” manner. This is fine but very superficial in an assessment.
I am looking for a what and why in an energetic profile and that means going deep.
In the framework that I use, Chakredy®, we describe energy as Contracted, Chaotic, Open or Expansive. These aren’t static presentations; energy is fluid, not static round balls of light emanating in the body. Now, it has been categorically proven that lower chakras emanate energy at lower frequencies than upper energy centers/chakras.
Deeper Presentations and Descriptions
Contracted isn’t a hard and fast Closed presentation but a state of Contraction.
Open isn’t the end-all in good, fluid energy. It is a description that energy at a certain energetic center is just that, open, not closed. Again, this is a rudimentary way to look at energy and since many people have an understanding that their body’s house a lot of different energy that they can actually put vocabulary to.
Expansive energy is describing the energy that is actively expanding so, in essence, the opposite of Contracted. Again, energy is action-oriented and fluid, not static.
Energy Basics: What does it mean to have Chaotic Energy?
Now, Chaotic. This is one of my favorite presentations in energy. The reason is that I see a Chaotic presentation in an energy center as in flux, not knowing which way it wants to go. Describing energy as either “Overactive” and “Underactive” is a misnomer. Chaotic gives us a deeper understanding of what it is doing. We can go deeper with each presentation as well with descriptions such as flat and pronounced.
In how I interpret energy, the descriptions of flat and pronounced are much more aligned with what is commonly used as “Overactive” and “Underactive”.
Why This Works
I want as much detail as I can see in each energy center so I can craft a narrative for my clients that they understand in regular human-speak.
Note: I don’t just work with chakras but also organ energies and body systems as well to create a narrative of what is going on in the entire energetic field.
It’s altogether too common for energy practitioners to speak in a vernacular that they understand but that their clients may not necessarily get or know what to do with the information. This is why I spend so much time bringing information down to human-speak, not to speak down to the client but to give them something where they can say “Yes, this is completely accurate and what is going on in my life”, or “You’ve put words to what I’ve been feeling where I didn’t have words”.
Why I’m looking for “what’s wrong”
I don’t like to use indicators that are looking for what’s wrong but it is the best way to describe what I’m looking for in someone’s energy. I’m looking for patterns in their energy where the energy is compromised or not operating optimally.
Let’s Look at an Example
In a recent basic energetic assessment for a demonstration client, her energy presented as follows:
(I’m only discussing chakra presentations for this example.)
- Crown Chakra – Open (seeking greater meaning in life)
- Third Eye – Contracted (stuck in a single perspective in life)
- Throat Chakra – Contracted (feels like she has no choice other than what is happening right now)
- Heart Chakra – Open (deeply compassionate)
- Solar Plexus – Open (high level of self-awareness)
- Sacral Chakra – Chaotic (debt/money struggles)
- Root Chakra – Open (very connected with her ritual practices)
Although I want to see what is going on with the imbalances in the field, I want to put specific vocabulary to my client’s energy. This easily tells them a story that they may not be able to articulate.
From here I explore Organ Energies and Body Systems for very specific connections to the Chakric Energy. I can then show the client exactly where and what is going on in their life on the Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual layers of their energy. In this client example, the imbalanced energetic presentations of Contracted and Chaotic are all occurring on the mental layer of the energetic body. This shows me that she’s got recurring mental patterns that she is navigating.
As you can see, when moving past an assessment of “Overactive” and “Underactive”, we are able to have a conversation about what is specifically going on in the client’s energy and life.
