This morning I had a lovely person reach out saying their longtime spouse wants out. It brought up so much that I wanted to share but decided not to write a novel in response.
Everyone experiences shock and trauma in their lives. Everyone.
How we navigate through is where things get dicey.
It’s hard to know when you need help, be it Psychotherapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), Somatic Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Energy Healing, Friends Support, Family Support, or even Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The paths you can take to heal are plentiful.
I recommend using a combination of support that you craft for yourself. For me, movement was non-negotiable as was allowing my rage an avenue. Sometimes that looked like pouring my rage into something I made or wrote, and always included confidants and some therapy.
Often we stifle our rage because we’ve been conditioned to suck it up and carry on. It’s time to stop that foolish behavior. Your trauma needs light.
A note to women here: own your rage and anger, it will save your life.
When your boundaries have been violated, you have a duty to yourself, your soul and body, to express your anger. No more sucking it up, please. You are literally killing yourself keeping it all in.
In energetics, I see the violation and emotional and mental trauma as a puncture in your energy. From this place, our energy, essence, and vitality are compromised and weakened and they energetically leak out.
When looking at boundaries violations, there is always more information to be unearthed below the traumatic experience.
What did it bring up or trigger?
- the feelings of being abandoned?
- not supported?
- not heard?
- does it make you feel helpless?
- or, bring up shame?
- does it challenge your safety and security?
- is resentment triggered because of all the time you’ve put in?
- a deep sense of grief?
- feel humiliated?
All of these are indications that there is much deeper healing that needs to occur outside of the traumatic experience. And all of those emotions are held in very specific parts of your body.
Connecting with where in your body you feel something is one of the fastest ways to move that energy.
In this chart, you can see where some of your major energy centers are located.
Identifying in your body where you are holding your emotions is the first step in moving those emotions
The biggest things I want you to take away from this is that the only thing you can do wrong when moving through massive emotions is to stuff them down, swallow them and not expressing them. It’s ok to cry, to rage, to experience waves of anger.
And, you’ve got this. Truly you do.
